Gordon Chesterman began his career in personnel, training and recruitment as a graduate trainee for a multinational company, and in 1983 he joined a major firm of chartered accountants as their graduate recruitment manager. After a period with a small publishing company in Cambridge and running his own training business, he joined the Careers Service in 1995 and was appointed Director in 2002.
Barry McNeill, Managing Consultant, CEB
Barry has over 13 years of professional consulting experience across the people talent and development spectrum. He recently joined CEB after some time as the Head of Design and Delivery at Imparta, a global performance improvement consultancy focusing on delivering Sales, Marketing and Customer Service Excellence. Before that, he worked as a Principal Consultant for Visions Consulting – a niche consultancy delivering Talent Management and Organisational Development consulting to both private and public sector. Barry has a proven track record of consistently delivering long-term value to his clients by creating and matching effective solutions to address critical business issues. With one global telecoms provider, he designed and implemented a top talent programme within the UK division, delivering in excess of £2m value back to the organisation in the first 12 months. The programme was a finalist for the Learning Awards in 2013. He has extensive experience in the design and development of complex solutions, from competency design through to the creation of global talent management frameworks and strategies. He has designed assessment and development solutions for management and future leader populations, operational improvement mechanisms and global frameworks for sales and service effectiveness. He is a qualified user of a number of psychometric instruments (including OPQ and the Leadership Judgement Indicator) and has used and applied these in multiple different contexts. He is an NLP practitioner, a certified coach and a CIPD-qualified learning practitioner. He graduated with Distinction in his MSc in Strategic HR. During his career, Barry has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients, including: Marks and Spencer, Telefonica, Intel, BP, WPP, Kantar, Millward Brown, Herbert Smith, Mayer Brown, Ordnance Survey, The Planning Inspectorate and SOCA.
Chris Small, Commercial Director, Saville Consulting
Chris manages Saville Consulting’s international business, with responsibility for overseas clients, a network of 55 international partners and overseas development. He frequently delivers talent programmes and speaks at talent events in countries including Russia, India, China, Brazil and the US. A Chartered Psychologist with a strong consulting background, he has delivered talent assessment and graduate assessment solutions for many multinational companies including Jaguar Land Rover, Nestlé, PwC and Verizon. He is a fan of utilising high technology solutions to streamline recruitment efficiency within many of his projects and works closely with clients to understand and incorporate their cultural fit into assessment processes. When Chris isn’t on his international travels, he spends time playing cricket or rugby or indulging in his unhealthy enthusiasm for 1970s rock bands!
Alison Heron, Head of Student Recruitment, KPMG
After 10 years working for a design and communications agency on recruitment campaigns, Alison joined KPMG in 2005 to lead the recruitment marketing team, responsible for graduate and experienced hire marketing from websites to campus sessions, employee referral programmes and virtual events. In 2010 her role expanded to include work with the graduate recruitment operations team. With the introduction of a range of school leaver programmes a year later, Alison played a key role in bringing recruitment, marketing and CSR together to demonstrate KPMG’s commitment to widening participation to the profession. She now heads up Student Recruitment for the UK firm and is responsible for all entry level programmes.
Phil Wilson, Fast Stream Chief Assessor and Chief Psychologist, Civil Service
Phil Wilson is Chief Psychologist and Chief Assessor for Fast Stream, the Civil Service graduate talent management programme. In 2013 Fast Stream won the Association of Graduate Recruiters’ Selection & Assessment Award and Civil Service Inclusive Employment Award. He also oversees the award winning Summer Diversity Internship Programme (2012 NPIA Best Diversity in Work Experience) and diversity Coaching Programme (2012 Race for Opportunity Award, Highly Commended) and many other positive action activities. Other key areas of work activity include mindfulness, unconscious bias and disability. Prior to this role he was Head of Occupational Psychology at the London Fire Brigade, which included design of an award winning graduate programme (2009 Opportunity Now Equality Award) and at Greater Manchester Police. He also chaired the British Psychological Society group that produced the Assessment and Development Centre Guidelines.
Samantha Hope, Graduate Recruitment Manager, Shoosmiths LLP
Samantha is Shoosmiths’ Graduate Recruitment Manager based in Milton Keynes. She recruits and develops Trainee Solicitors, coordinating the Summer Vacation Placements and Training Contracts across the firm’s 10 office locations from Southampton to Edinburgh. Samantha possesses an in-depth knowledge and interest in the use of digital media in recruitment and marketing, leading the Graduate Social Media Project. And managing events both on campus, in-house, and digitally to develop and assess skills of future talent. A law graduate herself, Samantha has been in the graduate recruitment market since 2008, recruiting junior doctors for the NHS and students into specialist graduate roles, before joining Shoosmiths in 2010. Rising quickly in her career, Samantha’s most recent achievements are being awarded with the ‘Best Trainer 2013’ by LawCareers.net, the ‘Top Law Firm 2013’ by TheJobCrowd.com, and ‘Top Vacation Placement 2013’ by AllAboutLaw.com.

Amandeep joined Sky in February 2013 taking over the management of the graduate recruitment function across all areas of the business. In her current role. Amandeep has been leading the drive to centralise Sky’s graduate talent strategy, ensuring a world-class process striving for efficiency and a positive candidate experience from attraction to hire through to continued on-going development. Prior to joining Sky, Amandeep spent 3 years as a Consultant Business Psychologist at Mendas, an Occupational Psychology consultancy that specialises in assessing and developing individuals. Here, Amandeep worked as a consultant and applied her knowledge to design and develop recruitment and development strategies and tools for organisations across a range of sectors, including Financial Services, FMCG and the Public Sector.
Ayesha Godigamuwe, Interim Graduate Development Framework & Sigma Leadership Programme Manager, BAE Systems
Ayesha joined BAE Systems 6 years ago on their HR Graduate Scheme, so spent the first 2 years of her HR career experiencing graduate development first-hand. This experience combined with a passion for continuous improvement led her to get more involved with graduate development and take up responsibility for the Company’s graduate personal effectiveness course. In 2013, she led the review, tender and redesign of this course to better connect it to the wider scheme. 1 year ago she stepped in to cover the role of the Corporate Graduate Manager responsible for the corporate elements of the graduate programme she started on, the Sigma Leadership Programme and Summer Internships.

Anneke Parsons is the Head of Apprenticeships and Degree Programmes in the Barclays Early Careers team. She manages the Grow with Barclays Early Careers Development Framework supporting a diverse range of young people into work and the progression of the most talented existing colleagues in junior roles. After 10 years as a Management Consultant, latterly with Accenture, Anneke joined Barclays 2 years ago as a Senior HR Project Manager, successfully launching the new Apprenticeship Programme.
Robinder Gill, Graduate, Undergraduate & Apprentice Recruitment, Jaguar Land Rover Limited
Robinder Gill has worked in various human resources roles within the automotive engineering & manufacturing sector since graduating fifteen years ago – first at Ford Motor Company and then at Jaguar Land Rover. His roles ranged from employee relations and policy & planning to salaried HR, but for the last four years Rob has been responsible for the company’s graduate & undergraduate recruitment and, since last year, apprentice recruitment from the school leaver market. Jaguar Land Rover has recruited well over 1,000 graduates in the last four years and around 400 apprentices. Since starting in his current graduate recruitment role, Rob has been fully immersed in it, playing an active role in recruiter sector focus group meetings and attending graduate & student market update events.
Nigel Jones, Senior Lecturer, Sheffield Hallam University
Nigel enjoyed a 15 year career in the UK Grocery industry before moving to Sheffield Hallam University in 2007. During his career in industry he worked for four branded and private label manufacturers in differing sales and marketing capacities. He has been involved in the launch of numerous products sold under a number of household brand names and more latterly many different ranges of retailer own brand products and has worked with all the major UK retailers. Nigel joined SHU as a Senior Lecturer in the Marketing Subject Group where he currently balances his time by teaching both under- and post-graduate students as well as engaging with businesses on behalf of SHU in both teaching and consultancy roles. He is also Course Leader for the 3 Specialised Marketing Degrees taught at SHU, Course Leader for the Nestle Fast Start Degree Programme and is studying for a DBA.
Vicki Spindler, Commercial Graduates, Industrial Placements & Summer Internships, Tesco Stores Limited
Vicki Spindler leads Tesco Commercial’s graduate and undergraduate recruitment and process, and looks after graduate branding and attraction strategy for Tesco UK. Vicki has been able to give up-to-date views on this subject, having started her Tesco career when she joined the Tesco Personnel Graduate Programme in January 2011. Her first role was working in the resourcing team as a Trainee Resourcing Manager, and then moving across to the Tesco central team as a Training Manager for Leadership Development. Vicki took the position of Graduate Recruitment Manager in August 2012 and has been working to input her learnings from this year into the 2013/14 campaign. A business graduate from the University of Southampton, her career pre-Tesco was in technical/engineering recruitment with Huxley in the Thames Valley.

Tom Banham is the Academy Recruitment Manager at Nestlé (www.nestle.co.uk). Tom has more than six years experience in various HR roles. He currently leads entry level recruitment for all businesses across Nestlé in the UK and China. In addition to FMCG, Tom has experience of other leading graduate sectors, namely law and professional services. He started his career on a HR graduate scheme, working on accounts for Barclays and Royal Mail before moving on to manage trainee recruitment in the legal sector at Addleshaw Goddard and Irwin Mitchell.

Suzie is the Graduate & Future Talent Manager for Barratt Developments PLC and is based in York. Prior to joining Barratt in 2005 as Regional HR Manager, she worked in the food retail industry in a number of store and regional HR Operations roles. In her current role, Suzie is responsible for the creation and delivery of the Future Talent strategy for Barratt. This includes the recruitment and development of Graduates, Undergraduates, Trainees and Apprentices for Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Ward Homes.
