Unconscious Bias in the Workplace

26 September @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, Central London

This event is now complete

Did you know that our brains process around 11 million bits of information every second most of which is not in our conscious mind?! Our brains are hard wired to deal with this huge volume of information every day by categorising people, events and objects resulting in us making judgements about others without us being conscious of it.

Unconscious bias is the associations we have which are outside our conscious awareness and control that can have a significant effect on how we perceive, behave and interact with others therefore having a determinantal impact on who we hire, rate more highly, promote, allocate projects to and work with.

This one day course will give you the skills, knowledge and practical strategies to identify, challenge and manage biases in the workplace across the employee lifecycle through a blend of interactive exercises, short video clips and group discussions.

Who is this course for?

  • Line managers
  • D&I managers
  • HR Professionals with an interest in understanding unconscious bias, its impact across the employee lifecycle and practical strategies for addressing this

By the end of the course you will:

Understand what unconscious bias is (and isn’t) and be able to identify and challenge our own and others’ biases in the workplace.

Understand how unconscious bias affects key stages of the employee lifecycle.
