Dr Amy Armstrong, Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour, University of Bedfordshire

Amy is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at the University of Bedfordshire. She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University and is Course Lead for the BSc in HRM with placement at the Milton Keynes campus. Her research interests span the topics of compassion, resilience, wellbeing and engagement at work. Amy holds a First Class Bachelor’s degree, an MBA and a PhD. Her doctorate explored personal trauma (i.e. critical illness and bereavement) and the impact of those experiences on the professional lives of managers. Amy is also a member of the Work and Organisational Psychology Group at Aston University and is involved in research with Engage for Success, a government-led movement which is seeking to improve engagement and wellbeing levels across the UK.

David MacLeod

David MacLeod, OBE, Co-Chair of Engage for Success Movement, Co-Author of ‘MacLeod Report’ on Employee Engagement

David is co-Chair of the Employee Engagement Task Force launched by the Prime Minister at Number 10 in 2011.  He is a visiting Professor of the Cass Business School, a Fellow of the Ashridge Business School, the Institute of Marketing and of the RSA.  He co-authored the book entitled ‘The Extra Mile’ published by Pearson on the topic of Employee Engagement.  David is co-author of the ‘Engaging for Success’ Report  commissioned by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, described by the CMI as the definitive work on this subject.  This follows an early career in marketing followed by becoming a CEO.  David was awarded an OBE for services to Employee Engagement and Business in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2013.

Kevin has been shaping and steering the internal communication strategies for SME’s across the UK for over 20 years. His philosophy is simple: “If you want to truly engage a community you have to put people at the heart of everything you do, and within an SME this starts with the people in your organisation – your people drive your marketing and in many cases are your marketing.” This approach has led him to launch a series of programmes which have put the company’s staff at the centre of the organisation and have ultimately led the business to becoming a four-time Sunday Times Top 100 Company to Work For, most recently finishing 4th in the 2015 awards.

Den Carter, Internal Communications and Employee Engagement Specialist, Virgin Trains

Den recently introduced a collaborative enterprise social network at the UK’s leading train operating company, Virgin Trains. He has previously worked in employee engagement roles at other major brands, and specialises in using digital technology to build collaborative cultures in businesses. He is also on the board of directors for a children’s charity which supports the relief of sickness and preservation of health among children and young people, where he is pioneering the use of mobile technology for health workers in remote areas of Cambodia.

Chloe Strauss, Managing Consultant, Gallup

Chloe is responsible for leading client account teams in driving change to positively affect business performance at client organisations and is currently leading project teams for the UK’s largest communications infrastructure company as well as a technology company headquartered in Madrid, whose IPO was one of the biggest in Europe.
Chloe enjoys bringing data to life and providing insights to leaders and managers which shape their outlook across a broad spectrum of people strategy matters. Her expertise and experience span from who to hire and promote through to employee engagement and customer experience change management programmes. Chloe is also a passionate strengths advocate and has an infectious enthusiasm around building strengths-based organisations.
She graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first class degree MA (Hons.) in Business Studies and Economics, which included an exchange year at Universitat Autonoma Barcelona. After graduating, she gained international experience across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, whilst working on the trading floors of HSBC. Subsequent qualifications include the CELTA Teaching certification. She is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in French and German.

Paula is the Head of Engagement & Wellbeing at Santander UK. Her career has primarily been in financial services, taking her from traditional branch and business banking through to credit risk and over ten years in marketing and communications. Her current role combines all that experience with a passion for all things which involve people. In 2015 Santander achieved a listing as one of the Sunday Times Top 25 Best Companies to work for.

Kieran Grundy, HR Business Partner- UK and Interfleet Group

Kieran is a Group HR Business Partner within SNC-Lavalin (formally known as Interfleet). SNC-Lavalin is one of the largest engineering and construction groups in the world.  In 2011, SNC-Lavalin acquired international rail consultancy Interfleet and on January 1st 2016, it changed its name to SNC-Lavalin and fully-integrated with the brand. Following the acquisition, SNC-Lavalin has global capabilities in rail and transit, serving clients worldwide. He has worked with business of all sizes including many global businesses in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Consultancy industries. Prior to his current role, he held the UK HR Manager role in SNC-Lavalin as well as working in operational roles for both Rolls Royce Plc and Johnson Controls Inc. Kieran is a Chartered member of the CIPD, and also acts as SNC-Lavalin’s HR Director for European HR Shared Services.  His recent work has won several awards both for Engagement & Benefit projects implemented to the business.

She qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and specialised in employment and pension law in both private practice and in-house roles before moving into the HR profession in 2010. Helen is a Company Director, Chartered Marketer and Professional Leadership Coach. She is the author of a recent 5-year review for Engage for Success, and is currently editing an engagement evidence paper to be published in 2016.
As a business-women, Helen’s goal is to work in partnership to see the skills of contributive leadership better understood and applied around the world. As a coach, her passion is seeing people grow as leaders, develop personally and fully engage their teams.
Her corporate background crosses government and the private sector, including facilities management for Citicorp in the City of London. In 1992 she founded what is now a global leadership development and coach training business, working in the UK and internationally. She has worked with clients at the UN, the European and Italian Parliaments, national and local government, particularly in the fields of health, wellbeing and social care.

Beth James has a broad range of experience in international environments (Sydney, Berlin) and currently splits her time between running brand projects and driving the employee engagement strategy for leading online food delivery portal hungryhouse. Beth has a strong brand marketing background, which has helped influence her unique approach to employee engagement. In 2014 she developed and implemented a successful program which transformed the internal culture and dramatically increased employee motivation and connection. She is passionate about humanising the approach to engagement, and believes that companies have an obligation to create the conditions in which people can flourish.

Steven’s career to date has included working on entrepreneurship for the UK government and international development with the UN before focusing on corporate leadership, building on his own experience as a leadership team member. As a director of Ideas Unlimited for 14 years, Steven’s clients have included John Lewis, Tesco, Camelot, RBS, Sky, PepisCo, Unilever, ATS-Euromaster, BT, EY, NHS, RWE-npower, Standard Life and Wolff-Olins. Dominic Carter, Director, Ideas Unlimited

Dominic has been an executive coach and consultant to large corporates for over 10 years, a consultant at Ideas Unlimited since 2011 and a director since 2014. He specialises in developing versatility in leaders and agility in organisations. His clients have included: AQA, Arqiva, Aviva, BAE Systems, Google, Greencore, John Lewis, RBS, Rolls Royce, Sky, Standard Life, Tesco, Unilever, Warburtons and Wolff Olins. Dominic was a co-founder of the Centre for Applied Positive Psychology in 2007 and has deep experience of developing strengths-based approaches to management.
Starting his career in human resource management at the BBC, Dominic went on to lead HR in the start-up of ITV company Westcountry Television and later to HR, leadership development and organisation development roles at Alcatel, the world’s largest telecoms company. As HR Director of Alcatel’s internet access business, he orchestrated the creation of an organisation that built a 50% share of the world market for ADSL equipment and he was responsible for people in the $7 billion acquisition of Newbridge Networks.

Pippa Richardson, Yoga Teacher, Pippa Yoga

Pippa has been practicing yoga for 8 years and trained with Triyoga, the UK’s leading Teacher Training program. Previously working in the fashion and beauty industry, Pippa has gone back into the corporate world to teach yoga to a range of businesses including Nomura, Save the Children & Freeths. She is particularly passionate about offering yoga in the work place and specialises in teaching 1-2-1. She is a mentor on the current intake of the Triyoga teacher training program and has been featured in a range of publications including Harper’s Bazaar, the Daily Mail & Women’s Fitness.

Pippa’s open-level classes are spacious and intuitive, allowing time for exploration and contemplation. Her focused approach to alignment honours the needs for different approaches for individual structures. This aims to build strength and flexibility in both body and mind, encouraging the body to return to its natural state of ease and freedom. Through her own dedicated practice she hopes to guide others to experience their own capacity for self-awareness and process.

Will I get the event presentations?


Download detailed instructions here.

For environmental reasons, we do not print conference presentations.  They become available as a download in your account on this site, shortly before the event.

When your order is completed online, an account it automatically created for you.

Please remember the account login and password you created during the event registration process.  You will need this to access the presentations.

The event presentations are added to this account shortly before the seminar and can then be downloaded. We will notify you when they are available.



In order for people to get the presentations they have to download them from an account on this website.

If you made the booking, you can download them for your colleague as you already have an account – or they can create their own account.

To create an account, the attendee will need to purchase the documentation directly from the site.  Don’t worry – we will email them a “Coupon Code” to input which makes the purchase free of charge.

Normally we email all attendees to notify them when the documentation is available online about one week before the event.  We include account set up instructions and the Coupon Code with that email.

What food and refreshments are provided?

Generally coffee and light refreshments are available on arrival and at tea and coffee breaks throughout the day.  The times of these are made clear in the event programme.

Lunch is served on full day events.  We arrange a buffet with a selection of options to accommodate different dietary requirements, but if you have specific needs please feel free add this on the ‘additional information’ section of the online booking for or to email us.  Contact us here.

I have a discount code – how do I claim it?

If you have been sent a discount or special offer ‘coupon code’ this can be entered in the shopping cart while booking and your discount will be applied to your purchase.

I have a ‘ticket’ email but it does not say the right delegate names?

Don’t worry.  You don’t need the ‘ticket’, it’s just produced by the booking software to confirm the order.

If you added delegate details on the booking form when you completed your order or told us by phone or email the names of the attendees, these people will be registered and do not need to bring the ‘ticket’.


I am a supplier or consultant, can I attend?

Sorry, but suppliers may not attend as delegates.

We do allow a strictly limited number of suppliers to exhibit.  Further exhibitor information can be found here or by calling our sales team on 020 7231 5100.

How do I pay? Can I have an invoice? Can I pay with a credit card?

Payment can be made by credit card when you book, or you can specify cheque, bank transfer or invoice etc. once you complete the registration form.

An invoice or receipt is automatically sent once booking is completed online.

For cheque and BACS payments, our account details can be downloaded here.

Credit card details can be taken by telephone, please call our account department on +44 (0)20 7231 5100. We do not store any credit card details used for payment.

Online credit card payments are transacted via Paypal – you do not need a Paypal account to use this facility.

Yes! Some of our events are actually held at hotels, but not all of them, so we have put together a page to help you find a suitable hotel near all of our main venues.

Can I cancel my booking or transfer to another event?

  • Cancellations can be made up to one month before the event. Cancellations must be confirmed in writing and will be subject to a cancellation charge of £100 + VAT.
  • Cancellations at less than one month from the event date are be subject to full payment.
  • Substitutions may be made at any date and are subject to a £100 + VAT administration fee.
  • Non-payment or non-attendance does not constitute a cancellation.
  • If you want to change to another course date, or different event, we will do our best to accommodate your request, but we reserve the right to refuse changes. Any changes are subject to a £100 + VAT administration fee.
