The 3rd Annual Apprentices and School Leavers Conference on 6th December will be held as planned and there are no plans to alter the schedule or date due to planned rail and London Underground strikes.

Apprenticeship Programs and school leavers have proven to make a positive impact on the productivity, diversity and skills development in an organisation. It is most topical in today’s current climate with the ever growing skills shortage and more recently the introduction of the National Apprenticeship Levy.
This Forum provides insight to how you can attract, develop and retain the brightest talent to build a strong talent pipeline for the future. It will also provide you with insights to the strategic and practical know-how to designing and delivering a successful Apprenticeship programme within your organisation.
You will hear case studies from organisations who have successfully developed and implemented Apprenticeship Programs. You will learn about their challenges and the strategies and tools they developed to overcome them.
The event will provide you an opportunity to share your own organisational challenges and thoughts through a knowledge share networking session.

If you made the booking, you can download them for your colleague as you already have an account – or they can create their own account.
To create an account, the attendee will need to purchase the documentation directly from the site. Don’t worry – we will email them a “Coupon Code” to input which makes the purchase free of charge.
Normally we email all attendees to notify them when the documentation is available online about one week before the event. We include account set up instructions and the Coupon Code with that email.

Generally coffee and light refreshments are available on arrival and at tea and coffee breaks throughout the day. The times of these are made clear in the event programme.
Lunch is served on full day events. We arrange a buffet with a selection of options to accommodate different dietary requirements, but if you have specific needs please feel free add this on the ‘additional information’ section of the online booking for or to email us. Contact us here.
If you have been sent a discount or special offer ‘coupon code’ this can be entered in the shopping cart while booking and your discount will be applied to your purchase.
Don’t worry. You don’t need the ‘ticket’, it’s just produced by the booking software to confirm the order.
If you added delegate details on the booking form when you completed your order or told us by phone or email the names of the attendees, these people will be registered and do not need to bring the ‘ticket’.

Payment can be made by credit card when you book, or you can specify cheque, bank transfer or invoice etc. once you complete the registration form.
An invoice or receipt is automatically sent once booking is completed online.

Changes are sometimes needed due to circumstances beyond our control such as trainers being ill, poor weather and so on. In the very rare circumstances that we need to change the date for an event we will automatically offer you a place on the next available event date. If this is not suitable for you we will refund your booking fee.
We cannot accept liability for travel and accommodation costs and strongly advise you not to book cheap ‘non-refundable / no change’ tickets and to check your insurance covers travel and accommodation in these circumstances.
Yes! Some of our events are actually held at hotels, but not all of them, so we have put together a page to help you find a suitable hotel near all of our main venues.

- Cancellations can be made up to one month before the event. Cancellations must be confirmed in writing and will be subject to a cancellation charge of £100 + VAT.
- Cancellations at less than one month from the event date are be subject to full payment.
- Substitutions may be made at any date and are subject to a £100 + VAT administration fee.
- Non-payment or non-attendance does not constitute a cancellation.

CHAIR - Zeena Çala, Head of Account Management, Skills Funding Agency
Zeena Çala heads up a team of National Account Managers who operate throughout London and the South East area mirroring the National Apprenticeship Service available across England to assist large employers that need direct assistance to develop and grow their apprenticeship programmes.
Zeena joined the original National Apprenticeship Service as an Employer Services Director in March 2009 after working in a host of workforce development related roles in the Learning and Skills Council.
She began her career working in the private sector for a Life Assurance company in the 80’s and recognises that effective customer service is paramount to meeting employer demands and that we must invest in our workforce if we are to move industry forward.
She has a passion for working with employers and seeing the benefits Apprentices bring to people and employers.
Emma O'Dell, Head of Financial Services Apprenticeships and Strategic Partnerships, BPP Professional Education
Starting out on the Graduate Leadership Programme at Barclays, Emma worked her way up through various HR roles including recruitment, learning and development and talent management before specialising in Graduates.After setting up the Corporate Banking graduate programme there, Emma left the world of Banking to become the Head of Graduate Recruitment and Development at Taylor Wessing Law Firm, responsible for the management of their trainee solicitor programmes. After navigating through the recession, Emma decided to return to the Financial Services sector as the Early Career Head of Programmes at RBS, responsible for the programme management function for all RBS Group graduate and apprenticeship schemes (from the point of induction to roll off). Now at BPP, Emma’s role as Head of Financial Services Apprenticeships and Strategic Partnerships is to work with key clients, supporting them to develop their early career strategies and design and deliver apprenticeship programmes that are aligned to their business needs.
Alex Linley, CEO, Capp

Jake McClure, Head of Apprenticeships - Civil Service, Cabinet Office
Jake is Head of Apprenticeships - Civil Service for the Cabinet Office. He leads the development and delivery of infrastructure and incentives to create 3mil new apprenticeship roles in the UK and 40,000 in the Civil Service, working across 30 separate and autonomous government departments to ensure the legislative target is met. Before this, he headed talent and capability for operations in the Civil Service where he led on design, development and delivery of a core curriculum, a suite of qualifications, a pioneering apprenticeship programme and talent management for front-line members of the public sector. He also helped establish the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Diplomatic Academy. Prior to these roles, he worked as an inspector for the Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, on Criminal Justice legislation and implementation in Northern Ireland, offender management in England and as an educational consultant for the British Council in Poland, Malaysia, Mongolia, Afghanistan, Senegal and Vietnam.
Jaime Silvester, Commercial Director, Nielsen
Jaime Silvester is a senior commercial leader within Market Research for the FMCG industry.Local to the Oxfordshire area, Jaime entered the commercial world with an A Level and a BTEC, choosing to grow her career through experience and opportunity rather than the traditional University route.Having worked at Nielsen for the last 16 years, Jaime has held a number of roles, within Client Consulting, Sales and New Business Management, Client Business Partnering and Commercial Training, the latter enabling her to combine her zest for developing new and diverse talent initiatives with the opportunities that a global leader in business can offer.Outside of the corporate environment, Jaime is currently spending most of her time developing her diplomacy and endurance skills as she tries to teach both her daughter to drive, and her hyperactive Pug to stop chasing pigeons.
Lorraine Braben, Human Factors and Competence Superintendent, Cristal Pigments UK
Lorraine Braben is the Human Factors and Competence Superintendent at Cristal Pigments UK Ltd, where she manages the training, development and competence programmes for the UK site, as well as providing the lead for the Human Factors agenda in the Process Safety Management system. Lorraine worked for many years as a chartered Chemical Engineer before becoming a qualified HR professional. She led the introduction of Human Factors on site, developing and delivering training in a wide range of topics within this subject area. Since taking on her current L&D management position, Lorraine has been involved in the management of the apprenticeship programmes, leading recruitment, monitoring and review processes with individual apprentices.
David Palmer, UK Research Manager, Trendence UK (Group GTI)
David Palmer is the UK Research Manager at Trendence UK, a specialist market research company that focuses on helping organisations to effectively reach and recruit university and school students. Prior to joining Trendence UK in 2013, David read English at Exeter College, Oxford.

Hannah is the Business Director of GTI Recruiting Solutions and has overall responsibility for the delivery of all early careers recruitment campaigns at GTI, working with a range of organisations recruiting apprentices and school leavers across a wide variety of sectors. Hannah previously worked for GTI as an account manager from 2003-2007 before taking up a role leading Graduate Recruitment at the Financial Services Authority (FSA). During her five years at the regulator Hannah was responsible for the FSA’s marketing strategy and delivery, selection design and execution, and programme management of the FSA’s early careers development programme, specialist schemes, and undergraduate and MBA intern programmes.

Howard Grosvenor is the Director of Professional Services for cut-e UK. He develops the infrastructure for a skilled, pragmatic and professional consulting team, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of professional practice. Some of his recent projects include: the design and implementation of an online assessment process for a national retail group, including an evaluation of the return on investment of using assessment tools; a business research project to understand key drivers of sales success in a pan-European technology company; assessment process design for a national property development and investment company; and the re-accreditation of cut-e client training packages to new European professional standards.
|Phil Warnock, Managing Director, Ginger Nut Media
Phil is the founder and MD of Ginger Nut which has grown to 30 or so staff in under 5 years never having made a loss. He puts a great deal of the business’ success in the marketing arena down to his investment in apprenticeships within Ginger Nut and they have been responsible for assisting the business to launch into two new areas web design and now apprenticship training.
Phil has personally hired almost 30 apprentices within the last few years with three departments at Ginger Nut now lead by former apprentices. Phil passionately cares about giving people opportunity and is Chair ambassador for the South East Local Ambassador Network for the National Apprenticeship scheme.
Alongside his experience as an award winning employer of apprenticeships, Ginger Nut have won many awards including best New SME at the NAS awards 2014 and Best Level of support at All About School Leavers beating many large blue chips. Phil has a unique perspective as an SME employer and now as a training provider after the launch of Ginger Nut Training.

As Head of People at Fletchers Solicitors, a Sunday Times Top 100 employer, Sara is responsible for defining and implementing the talent, training and HR strategy.
A qualified psychologist and executive coach, with an extensive retail background; Sara is a people person through and through. She has revolutionised the way Fletchers deals with HR and recruitment.
Out of work, Sara can often be found shoe shopping and is an avid Newcastle United supporter, showing she isn’t quite perfect.
